Advanced Care in Northeast Portland

When it comes to your health, it’s important to have confidence in your surgeons. The surgeons at Portland Oral and Facial Surgery are highly trained and utilize cutting-edge technology to provide unparalleled results. Our proximity to the Grant Park area allows us to serve families, working professionals, and retirees who require specialized attention without the need for long-distance travel.

We understand that surgery can be a source of anxiety for many. That is why we emphasize sedation options in oral surgery, ensuring that whether you are undergoing a routine extraction or a complex reconstruction, your experience is calm and pain-free.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Near Grant Park

One of the most common rites of passage for young adults in the Grant Park area—often students at nearby high schools or universities—is the management of third molars. With advanced training and residencies specializing in oral cavity conditions and associated systemic disease, our oral surgeons perform both routine and highly complex dental procedures for our patients.

Impacted teeth can cause significant pain, infection, and crowding. We specialize in wisdom teeth removal using minimally invasive techniques to speed up recovery. If you are unsure if surgery is necessary, we encourage you to read about signs of impacted wisdom teeth to understand the symptoms better.

Dental Implants: Restoring Your Smile

For patients looking to replace missing teeth, we offer state-of-the-art solutions. Whether due to trauma, decay, or age, tooth loss can impact your ability to eat and speak with confidence. We specialize in dental implants, which are designed to look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Our practice utilizes graftless dental implants whenever possible to reduce healing time. However, for patients who have experienced bone loss, we are experts in bone grafting and sinus lift surgery to ensure a solid foundation for your new smile.

Meet Dr. Baber Khatib

Our commitment to excellence is driven by our surgeons’ extensive education and background. Dr. Baber Khatib joins us from the Medical University of South Carolina where he served as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. While at MUSC, he performed the first “Jaw in a Day” procedures in South Carolina, including one of the youngest patients to ever receive the revolutionary procedure on her mandible. These procedures were featured on the front page of the “Post and Courier” and local news stations.

Dr. Khatib earned his dental degree from the University of Alberta, Canada and his Medical Degree from the University of California Davis. After his residency at the University of California San Francisco, he completed fellowship training through Legacy Emanuel Hospital and Randall’s Children’s Hospital in Adult and Pediatric Advanced Craniomaxillofacial and Trauma Surgery. Following this, he completed an additional fellowship through Providence Cancer Center in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery. He is board certified by the American and Canadian Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Khatib’s practice includes Adult and Pediatric oral surgery (dental extractions, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, dental and zygomatic implants), oral head and neck microvascular reconstructive surgery, pathology, trauma surgery, sleep surgery, and corrective jaw surgery. In addition, he is the site director for education at Legacy Emanuel hospital for the Maxillofacial surgery service.

He lives in Portland and when not at work can be found cooking with his wife, staying active, and enjoying Portland’s great food scene!

Corrective Jaw Surgery and Facial Reconstruction

For individuals born with an overbite or under-bite, corrective jaw surgery can offer a solution to the associated functional disabilities. The benefits of corrective jaw surgery can include restoring a person’s ability to eat and chew without difficulty, improve or eliminate joint pain, and restore facial harmony and ideal dental form. Our team is experienced in handling complex cases, including chronic jaw pain and facial trauma.

Because accurate planning is vital for these complex procedures, we utilize innovative technology. This includes 3D CT scanning and virtual surgical planning to predict results before we ever enter the operating room.
